The Kernic – a Boat building Project

Part 1. We started this boat-building project earlier last year, which for us was a completely new method.

During discussions and research of the project with South Shields Sea Cadets management, a plan was developed and kit supplied by Jordan Boats in Cumbria. Soon after in Feb/March 2024 the kit arrived and included a building frame and marine ply parts.

Not forgetting that this type of build was a first for our volunteer members (we are all volunteers) who are used to more traditional methods. This was a big ask, a number of initial problems including variable temperatures had to be overcome but as you can see in our pictorial video 1. Thanks to Matt and Dave, as you can see, it looks good so far.
